Surprise....

This year for Caleb's 28th birthday I made him work for his presents. =) He has been so busy studying for the GMAT that we haven't had much quality time together so I was grateful he went along with my little scavenger hunt.

Here I am holding his first hint. I was so excited. I swear Caleb and Justin took the long way home.

I thought I was excited, look at that face. He's just like a little boy.

Resistance bands he needed to go with the P90X he got from Tanner and Kristin (thanks guys)

While he was going to grab the gift he smacked his already jammed finger. :( He put on a brave face for the picture.

I've heard so many good things about this book. He mentioned that he wanted to read it and I secretly went to Fanzz and used his discount to buy it. Sweet!

He was genuinely surprised to get this. He wouldn't let me put up the first picture I took. He looked like a goober.

The hint for this one read "Getting close but not quite there, behind the ___  ___ not the love chair"

It really took him much longer than it should have to find this. =)
What could it be?
A big propane tank, which means….
No more mini grill for us!
Don't mind the amazon behind Caleb. We photoshopped it in, no way is that our backyard, right?

Yay for birthdays!
I just love him so much.

I feel so blessed to be married to Caleb. He is such a great husband. He is loving and caring and always takes care of me. He is a wonderful provider. We’ve been through a lot together but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It has brought us closer together. Sometimes when we sit in bed and talk we wonder if other people can really be as in love as we are. I hope this newlywed feeling never goes away. Here are some of the things I love about him.

I love cuddling with him when we watch TV. I love the way I feel safe in his arms.

I love when he sings loud in the car then looks at me when it’s my turn.

I love that he learned my favorite song on the guitar so he could sing it to me when I got back from Florida.

I love that when we hold hands they fit perfectly together.

I love how he jokes with my family and has easily secured the favorite child spot with my parents.

I even love when I visit Hollie and Ash looks passed me waiting for him to come in.

I love the way his little brothers look up to him.

I love when he says “you’re married to Caleb Rigby, and that’s cool”

I love you Caleb Rigby!

EXTREMELY graphic post

Honestly, I am not teasing. These pictures are not for the weak stomach folk.

On Friday I had surgery to remove a keloid from my upper arm. Normally I have a strong stomach for things like this, but apparently not when it's on my body and I can feel/see it. It really wasn't that big of a deal but it was kind of gross. It really looks a lot worse than it was. I think Caleb was more traumatized by the whole experience than I was. ;)

Here is the pre-op picture with the awesome magic marker on my arm. I was worried Dr. Checketts was going to do an “I heart mom” tattoo but he refrained.

Dr Checketts called Caleb over to see this part and see if he wanted to take a picture. Ha ha rude huh?  I must have tilted my arm when Caleb was getting ready to take the picture because as I did, blood trickle down my arm. He was so distraught. I did not think he was going to make it back to his seat.
I teased Caleb about him not being able to be in the room during our children’s deliveries and he said “I can be in the room, I just won’t be playing catcher behind home plate”

I really thought I would want to watch the surgery but then when we got there I didn’t dare to look at it. I was worried I’d pass out so I had Caleb document as much as he could.

(the yellow around it is iodine)
I didn’t bruise much until the second day.
Lucky for me we had family pictures on Saturday. I took the bandage off because it would be too hard to hide in the pictures, then I was strategically positioned to make it work. =)

As long as I keep the wrap on it doesn’t bother me, but when I take it off my arm starts throbbing. I am supposed to leave it on for 3 more weeks so I don’t really have a reason to have it off except that the wrap bugs me.
Today it looks a lot better. The bruise is not more yellowish and almost gone; the worst part now is it is starting to itch.

Minor Heart Attack

Here's some recent stories as to why we have had some minor heart attacks at our house:

A couple weeks ago we got home late from the fireworks. I noticed that we had left the front door unlocked and that made me nervous. I went upstairs to our bedroom while Caleb was in the kitchen. I turned the bedroom light on but it didn’t go on (it was turned off but the fan went on) so the room was pitch black. I carefully started toward the nightstand to turn on my reading light there and ran into what I thought was a man crouched down ready to attack me. I screamed like a girl, Caleb was understandably worried but I reassured him nothing was wrong once I realized, I in fact ran into the laundry basket that Caleb had “put away” earlier. (Apparently next to my side of the bed)

Last week Caleb had a massive head ache all day. When we were going to bed I offered to get him some medicine. I grabbed some Tylenol from the medicine drawer and came back; he then asked if I had a drink. Oops, so I ran down stairs and grabbed his water bottle from the fridge. When I came back the little rat had gotten out of bed and was hiding in the office so I walked past him into the bedroom. He then jumped out and scared me. I screamed so loud, I was terrified! I threw his water bottle at him when he jumped out so he had to get his own drink. Too bad. =)

Here's a picture of me hiding in the food pantry waiting for Caleb so I could scare him. You can tell he was a little cautious because I was being so quiet in the kitchen. =)

I would love to take credit for Ashton's desire to scare people but I'm sure that comes from his father.

When we lived with Jed and Hollie (before we moved into our house now) Jed was always trying to scare me. One night when I was getting home late I came in through the garage and Jed was hiding under his truck. He grabbed my ankle as I walked by. I'm sure you can imagine my fright. He's just lucky he kept his arm. I almost did the Riverdance on it when he scared me.

White Rock

Hollie and Jed went hiking with Caleb and I on Antelope Island to White Rock. It was a beautiful hike (about 2 miles) and once you get to the top you can see lots of different firework displays throughout the county. On our way up we saw this girl pulling her mom in a wagon, so naturally (with a little encouragement from me and Hollie) Caleb and Jed volunteered to take turns pulling her up.
Tuey was extremely grateful for our help. I guess about 20 people had passed them up before we got to them.
The sunset over the water was beautiful.
Jed and Hollie probably don't look very tired here because they pulled once the trail leveled off (at least that's what Caleb kept saying to them) ;)

Here's Tuey and her mom Chang (?)
It is very difficult to take a picture while it's pitch black. Especially when Jed is involved.
It was an awesome experience, but I think I'd rather be closer to the fireworks where you can feel the explosions. =)
We've been to 6 different fireworks so far and we still have 2 more planned. I LOVE the 4th of July!

Who knew Hayden could fly?

At family dinner on Sunday we had this human rubberband (i think that's what they called it). Just leave it to the Rigby boys to have a good time. =)

Caleb and I watched this video over and over last night laughing so hard. When Caleb and Gavin switched sides they flung Hayden into middle where he tripped Brandon who fell down laughing. Then Caleb admits it was his fault.
**(I laugh really loud in the video and it's pretty annoying so you might want to turn the volume down)

It took them a while but they finally got the hang of it. =)

The girls wanted to get in on the action but they didn't quite understand. (Look at Rocky running around hugging people)

Here is a cute picture of the Rigby grandkids.
Mars made me the cute bag. I love it. I decided I'm going to start being crafty too... we'll see how long that lasts. =)

Salesman horror story

So let me tell you a little about my problem. I can't say no when someone is trying to sell me something. I often have buyer’s remorse even before I’ve purchased whatever it is they are selling. Let me give you a few examples: Sea Salt pedicure materials, nail buffer to bring out the natural shine in your nails (I had acrylic nails on when they sold this to me), a jewelry cleaning kit, many happenings books, and don’t get me started on the magazine salesmen. I’m pretty sure I get this awesome trait from my father. A few years ago their computer broke and instead of fixing it they decided to get rid of it. They weren’t able to cancel their Internet subscription so they were just waiting it out. Then when it came time to re-subscribed my dad gave in and signed another contract…they hadn’t even had a computer for the last 7 months! I blame him for my problem. Now here’s the story.

The Salesman Who Wouldn't Leave.

This sweet kid from Oregon was here selling Kirby vacuums door-to-door. But that's not what was said in the beginning. It started like this
him "hello ma'am"
me "hi"
him "you must be the woman of the home"
me "yep, what are you selling?"
him "I'm not selling anything we're actually going around cleaning people's carpet for free in hopes that if you like it you'll tell your friends and family about the product."
me "what's the catch"
him "there is no catch, this is just the cheaper way to advertise through word of mouth. Plus I don't have a face for TV"
me "you have a face for radio"
him "(fake laugh) good point so what do you say we clean your carpet?"
me "we just got new carpet last year I dont' think it needs cleaning"
him "we do upholstery and stairs too "
me "I don't think we're interested I'm sorry, thank you though"
him "well let me just show you how it works"
me "?? okay...Caleb, can you come here"

He started with this attachment to clean out the space by the sliding glass doors.

Caleb pretending he was interested. We were just waiting for him to shampoo our stairs.
Here I am testing out the couch cleaning attachment.

This is the couch that he was going to shampoo after he showed us how the vacuum/shampooer worked.

I'm doing some dusting now.
We had just got dinner before he showed up so I made Caleb listen to his spill for a bit so I could eat my food.
He vacuumed our bed. It was gross, he told us some really disgusting facts that I was able to find here. I wouldn't recommend reading it while eating.
He had to change these filters every minute or so to show us the amount of dirty/dust he was cleaning up.
My house that was clean before he entered now looked worse than ever.
Finally after many "NO, we are not interested in purchasing this vacuum for $2,650" he called in the closer.
There were multiple calls to "the boss" to see if he could lower the price. Even though we told him we wouldn't even buy it for $200. He still continued on his spill. Finally we told him he had to leave because we were going to a movie. (The Killers, it was way good by the way) His boss apparently came to help him seal the deal but we weren't having it. I don't care that he didn't shampoo the carpet or clean the couch like he said he was going to do.I just wanted them out of our house. That is 3 1/2 hours of my life that I will never get back. Thanks Kirby, I'll use my word-of-mouth to tell everyone how crappy/persistent your silly sales techniques are.

A little bit of ....Recently

So our awesome ward was dissolved last month. Now all young married couples are to attend their home wards.
We kind of knew it was coming but it was still hard.
We have so many good friends in this ward that we didn't want to leave them.
These pictures are from a farewell party we had after the ward was dissolved. It was nice to see everyone but it made it hard to think we won't be meeting together again as a group.
The day before the meeting our husbands had to put up chairs so a few of the wives met at Beus Pond for a little stroll. =)
Caleb and I took Brooke and Ashton yesterday to the park. We kind of love these two. =)

Here's Ash mastering the rings.
Caleb and I decided to get a dog. Here is the one Caleb wanted....
This is the one that I wanted.
We still haven't decided so stay tuned and see what we choose. I promise to post about our trip to San Antonio soon, oh and Palm Springs. =)
