Yard Work

So I started pulling weeds in my front flower garden and my cute little neighbor kids wanted to help. They just kept showing up one-by-one. But heck, I wasn't going to turn down free help. I did pay them with Starbursts and Jolly Ranchers. I'll post updated pictures when I'm finished.

1 month 3 weeks and 2 days since Bahamas Cruise

Ha ha ha, I love that the little ticker at the top of my blog reminds me how far behind I am on my blogging. I have been a little lazy with blogging about it because we had so much fun I didn’t ever want to bring the camera with us. I know… I’m kicking myself about it now but it just seemed so much easier without it. This is one picture I did get of Caleb exaggerating the size of eel he supposedly saw while snorkeling.

This was both Caleb and my first cruise and we are hooked! We absolutely loved everything about it. What’s not to love? I love love love Strawberry daiquiris. (virgin of course) and every half hour these tan men would approach us and give us more daiquiris. I was in heaven.

We went on a short 3-day cruise. 1) because we weren’t sure if we would like it/get sick and 2) it was free so heck we’ll take what we can get. Anyone that knows me knows that I am a huge American Eagle fan. So they started sending me surveys to take and I won this cruise from it. Pretty sweet deal.

On our cruise, we went to Nassau Bahamas. It was so beautiful. Everyone there was black and I LOVED it! Quick side note: a couple weeks ago, Caleb and I got home from work at the same time and he heard my ghetto music and said, “You should have been born black” I like to think that secretly I am. :)

Anyway, in the Bahamas, we went snorkeling and it was so amazing. There were these bright fishes that would swim all around us. I kept diving trying to get a closer look at the reef and every time I did Caleb would grab my leg and pull me back up. The first couple of times I thought it was an accident then I started to get annoyed, because I had to fix my mask every time I would come up. Finally, he pulled me up and told me to stop. I guess they told us we weren’t able to touch the reef but I wasn’t listening. Good thing Caleb watches out for me. :)

Lastly, while on the island dozens of ladies would come up to me and say, “Hey pretty girl, you want me to braid your hair?” Caleb thought this was hilarious because clearly, my hair looked super nappy with the humidity, but that was the only day I really did my hair and I already had it in two braids.

We had a really fun time and it was so good for us to spend quality time together. We're excited to go on a longer cruise next year, but there are a few things that we'll remember from this trip: bring camera and take lots of pictures, pack lots of sunscreen, and bring plenty of spending money for the souvenir shops because most of them only take cash.

a place to call home .....

Caleb and I moved into our dream home about a month ago. We looked at dozens of homes (sorry Marie) and are grateful that we finally found this one. We originally fell in love with this home because of the custom tile work throughout it. The home was in good condition but had some minor changes/repairs that we wanted to get done before we moved in. I was going to wait until we were all settled in before taking pictures and updating the blog but then I figured it would be a long time until I felt like everything was all in place.

After-we decided to make this room our office and get rid of the orange walls. It's perfect with the wood flooring.

After-this room is so bland it bothers me, but I'm still trying to figure out where I want the bed.

Before-kitchen, they had it decorated so cute before that it gave me some good ideas.

After- you'll notice the obnoxiously loud clock followed us, but on the plus side I LOVE my new saddle stools.

We weren't really a fan of the built in bench so we took it out.

It wasn't too hard to do (mainly because my bro-in-law Jed did it all) but it meant we needed to get new carpet in there. After-this is definitely a work in progress but so far it's looking good. :)

After! Our lawn was so dead, but after fixing the sprinklers we brought it back to life! We love our cozy home and are excited to start a new journey here.

Some things we learned about home ownership

• if you accidentally leave the front door open, people will come in
• just because the home was built in 2006 doesn't mean the microwave will still work
• the random lake on the edge of your property is not your neighbors problem, it's actually YOUR broken pipe.
• if the previous owners left an awesome grill behind.... there was probably reason
• you know you need to glaze the bathroom windows when Caleb makes eye contact with a neighbor kid while showering.
• you won't notice a leaking ceiling until after you've had all of the carpets cleaned.

Family Lagoon Day

Earlier this week was family Lagoon Day with the Rigby's. Gabby was working so we rode some rides until he got off. When we were trying to find out where he was working his girly co-workers were giddy and wanted to help us find him. (I think they had crushes on our little Gabster) All of the lines were pretty short so it was an excellent day to go.

In the video you can hear them screaming I'm not sure if it's Caleb or Cara screaming the loudest. :)

Sadly, my favorite part of Lagoon is the cute shows. Eric and Cara were making fun of me and the shows in this video.

Insomnia and the Weasel

First let me give you the background… I really think that I have insomnia. At night Caleb goes right to sleep and I’m left there staring at the ceiling for a couple hours (I guess it would probably help if I tried closing my eyes).

Anyway, I’m pretty sure that my problem is that my mind starts to race a million miles a second when I even think about going to bed. That is really the only quiet time Caleb and I get together so I always want to talk, plus he has the best answers/responses to all that my mind could wonder at night.

Well, the other night I had forgotten that Caleb had asked me to scratch his back right when we got into bed and this is what happened once I remembered:

Becky: Caleb?
Caleb: silence (he must already be asleep)
Becky: Do you still want me to scratch you back?
Caleb: yes!!

What a weasel! He pretended to be asleep so I wouldn’t keep him up asking questions like, “What happens when pirates attack cruise ships?” It’s a legit question. We’re going on our first cruise in 2 days and I’m a little nervous… wish us luck =)

Resorting to Bullets :)

So a lot has happened since the last time I actually blogged. I am getting overwhelmed with more and more to blog about that I decided the only way I could ever catch up is if I resorted to using bullet points. Enjoy

• I flew up to Oregon to visit Brandon, Marci, and little Rocky. They have the cutest little place and everything up there is so green. It’s like out of a movie. We had such a fun time and Marci introduced me to yoga which I LOVE!
• Caleb and I (with the help from our amazing agent Marie Parks) listed and sold our home in 5 weeks!!
• We moved in with my sister Hollie and Jed living free of rent if I help out tending the kids. Which I absolutely love! So it works out for all of us.
• For Valentines Day Caleb and I got each other the same gift on accident. We got couples massages from Beyond Spa so it was perfect… that way we just had to go twice.
• For our anniversary we drove down to Vegas to stay in the new South Point Casino. We stayed 2 nights with Adam, Cara, and Cambria first. It was the first time Caleb and I really got to hang out with Cambria all by ourselves. She really liked us. (even though Caleb added another bruise to her forehead)
• We have two offers placed on beautiful short sale homes and are waiting to see what happens next.

I think that will be enough for now. I’ll try and stay on top of things now. If Brandon can keep his up to date then there is no reason I shouldn’t be able to.

So I have tons to catch up on and I will but for now I'm busy packing up our house... by the way, we sold our place and need to be out by next Thursday. I'll update our blog soon though.

The Thing That Ate Kids For Arguing

Families are Forever

When I was working my screen saver popped up with the pictures I have saved on my work computer and these were the first three. They made me smile and remember what an awesome family I have. One night Adam and Cara were up visiting and they stayed at our place. We decided to watch Hairspray and Adam LOVED it. He's pretending to sleep here but he was singing and dancing through the entire show. We are probably going to get it for him for his birthday... don't tell.

This is one of my favorite wedding pictures. I've got my BFF JJ, little Indee, and crazy homeless Brandon.

The next picture will always make me laugh. This was right after Derek's mission. He was "hanging out " with this girl who was kind of weird. Caleb and I switched her name and my name in his phone so when I texted him it would come up as a text from her. (Caleb learned this sneaky trick from Justin Trujillo when he did it to Caleb and told him I was pregnant :) ) Anyway, while we were watching a movie at our place we text Derek and said something like "I love you and I know you are supposed to be my Eternal companion" from her. He read the text and just sat there with a blank look on his face but didn't say anything to us. He said he had to go and we texted him from Caleb's phone after he left and told us it was just a joke... needless to say he didn't think it was as funny as we did :)

Then I went through my pictures and selected some of my family pictures that I especially love and here they are. Brandon and Marci came and helped us decorate for Weber State's Homecoming at the Dee Event Center.

I don't know why but Eric always has crazy expressions in all of the pictures I take. He's normally a decent looking kid even though you'd never know from the pictures. ;)

I just assumed this next picture was payback for making the guys wear pink ties for our wedding.Gabby looks either 1) drunk or 2) belonging to the "special needs class" I can assure you that he's neither.

So many brother-in-laws! I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Brooke was cranky at our family Thanksgiving Party so Caleb and I took advantage of her orneriness and teased her. (Actually I think Caleb was taking her from me because I was bugging her)

It's okay though because I'm still her favorite aunt. I like to call it "tough love" it makes her stronger.

Kimmie and I used to go dancing every weekend. My dad has this picture up in his office at work and tells us how irresponsible we are for turning around to take a picture while driving 80 mph down the freeway.

My mom and dad are such a good looking couple. On Sundays my dad waits until my mom is dressed to pick out a tie for him to match her. How cute huh? I hope Caleb and I grow up to be just like them. (except the whole rotten children part)

Condo for Sale!

We are so excited to place our cozy condo for sale. We used our friend Marie Parks to help us list it. We have had so many good memories in this little place but we are excited to move on to bigger and better things. :) I thought I would do a special tribute to our beautiful Meadow Ghetto.













Almost all of our decorations either were given to us or picked out by Cara our interior designer sister-in-law. Actually, come to think about it, nearly 85% of the stuff in there was specifically from her.

Jeff and Carrie Maas gave us the tile above the fire place that says something about being married to your best friend.

This is the wall that I painted all by myself while Caleb was studying for finals.

My best friend Jennifer Jarrett has her own couch here at our place. (though she doesn't use it nearly enough)

Cathy, Cara, Kristin, and Hannah Cahoon gave us the sign above the sink that says "Bed and Bath You Make Both"

We copied Adam & Cara and saved all pictures sent from our family and friends and decorated our fridge with them. I realize now maybe we should have taken them down for these pictures... oh well, it's homey.

That beautiful clock is sooooo annoying! It's up for grabs for the first bidder. Let me warn you first that is sounds like a ticking time bomb. We have tried everything to make it quieter. It is so LOUD!!! Sure it's cute, but every time I look at it the time is wrong because Caleb keeps taking the batteries out because it's too loud so we're going to have to part with it.

We took the closet doors off because we were having issues when we both were trying to get ready in the morning. We will probably put them back up tonight.

This is our cozy little office. Sometimes I call it our den. Just because I always wanted a den. I'm not sure what a den is, but this will work for now.

We got a cute shower curtain at our reception but I didn't realize that you were supposed to put plastic behind the cloth so quickly we realized we needed to go buy a new one. Simple task right? Apparently not. This is the nice world map shower curtain that Caleb picked out.

Also, I remember when Brandon used to find random countries and it was our job to locate them. I'm going to miss that. :)

The sides of the mirror comes up so you can see the back of your hair, but sometimes when Caleb and I are brushing our teeth at night we pull them both out and try to find which one the other is looking in. Hey, it's a small place, what else would we do for entertainment?
